The Book of Samuel describes sharply David's life, without embellishments.
My paintings follow this course: David before and after conquering Jerusalem,
his bringing of the Ark of the Covenant through the city; conflicts
with King Saul, his blessings from God along with his loves, marital
and family problems, especially with his son Absalom. They end with
David as an old man described in Kings.
The background is often the modern city itself but also the Judean hills
wherein lies Jerusalem. Zion Square in the heart of the city's center.
Often the bible is quoted or summarized. Its significance in this history
cannot be overemphasized.
